Dirt Lab puts eight of the most argued-about dirt circuits ever built behind one three-knob face. Four overdrives and distortions, two fuzzes, two boosts. Turn the Mode knob and the knob labels, the tapers, and the entire circuit underneath them change with it — no menus, no stacked plugins, no rebuilding your chain to try the next idea.

Dirt Lab’s eight modes:

OCD — open, amp-like overdrive that keeps pick attack, guitar volume, and chord detail intact from a nearly clean push all the way into thick saturation. An HP/LP switch sets the low end: HP for tight, focused rhythm, LP for a fuller bottom.
Rodent — silicon op-amp distortion with the famous reverse Filter control. Compressed midrange grind, sharp attack, and a filter that darkens or slices the whole rig in one sweep.
Tube OD — the green screamer voice. Its gain leg is high-passed around 720 Hz, so the low end stays clean while everything above it gets soft, symmetric diode clipping. Mids forward, always mix-friendly.
Klön OD — the gold-box transparent overdrive. A buffered clean path is summed against a germanium-clipped one, which is why it thickens and pushes without ever burying the dry guitar underneath it.
PI Fuzz — the Big Muff Pi lineage: four transistor stages, two of them clipping, into the classic scooped tone stack. Endless sustain and a wall of thick, violin-like fuzz.
War Fuzz — total mayhem, drawing its inspiration from the likes of Death By Audio’s Fuzz War. Seven transistors all running reverse-active, with a germanium feedback clipper in the middle, and no clean range anywhere on the knob: gated, sputtering, low-tuned collapse.
Treble Boost — a ’60s germanium treble booster. Tightens the lows and pushes the upper mids so a dark humbucker cuts. True to the hardware, it inverts phase.
JFET Boost — a discrete JFET preamp lift with a wide, three-dimensional projection, plus Bright and Fat switches for extra top-end chime or extra body.

Every mode is a component-level model: real device equations, real component values, solved per sample. The op-amp bandwidth in the Rodent mode, the germanium clamps in Klön OD and War Fuzz, the reverse-biased stages that make War Fuzz gate and sputter — all of it comes out of the circuit rather than being drawn on afterwards. Each mode’s output is level-matched at its default settings, so you can audition all eight without your monitoring level jumping around.

Oversampling is per mode and set to Auto by default, which gives every circuit the factor it was tuned at. Override it in the footer when you want to trade CPU for a quieter top end, or the other way around.

Schematic parameters

Selects which of the eight circuits is running: OCD, Rodent, Tube OD, Klön OD, PI Fuzz, War Fuzz, Treble Boost, or JFET Boost. This is a full circuit swap, not a voicing tweak — the three knobs are relabelled to that circuit's own pot names and re-mapped to its own component values. Switching is click-free, so you can audition modes while the track runs.
